Ultrasonic thickness gauge: Project PSC S.r.l Case Study
What is an ultrasonic thickness gauge?
An ultrasonic thickness gauge is an electronic device that uses the emission and reception of sound waves to measure the thickness of a given material.
How does the ultrasonic thickness gauge work?
To accurately calculate the thickness, the device must calculate the speed of sound within the material that is being measured and determine if the surface is obscured by some kind of coating that prevents direct contact between the probe and the surface.
What gauge does our client Project PSC S.r.l use?
Project PSC is a center that trains and certifies personnel to execute Non-Destructive Inspections (CND) under the supervision of Bureau Veritas and ACCREDIA. Therefore, they use the SAMA Tools SAUT310D-SW Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge for its capacity to measure the thickness through paints and coatings.
