Customized product and service make SANY Port a global supplier of Hutchison Ports

SANY has been supplying both mobile port machines and large port machinery for Hutchison Ports, the world's leading port network since 2008.

SANY has been supplying both mobile port machines and large port machinery for Hutchison Ports, the world's leading port network since 2008. By now, 56 units of mobile port equipment, 6 Ship-to-Shore container cranes have been delivered and 6 units of gantry cranes are in production.

Hutchison Ports, formerly known as Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) is the largest port operator in the world with 48 ports in 25 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australasia. The throughput of Hutchison Ports published in 2015 was 83.8 million of TEUs.

In 2008, SANY delivered its first reach stacker and empty container handler to Hong Kong International Terminals (HIT), operated by Hutchison Ports. “HPH began to notice SANY when our trailer pumps broke the pumping record in the construction of Hong Kong IFC, later when they saw SANY's mobile port machines in the market, HPH sent a delegation to visit our manufacturing factory in Changsha,” recalled by Peng Guocheng, general manager of SANY Port Machinery.

SANY reach stacker and empty container handler are able to handle 3000 TEUs without any breakdown on average in HIT terminals, which is far beyond the required 800 TEUs workload. At the same time, SANY provides HPH all-round after sales service including onsite repair and maintenance, technique training and seminars, therefore won the customer's recognition and trust for long-term cooperation. In 2012, 4 units of reach stacker and 2 units of heavy-duty forklift truck were sold to HPH Brisbane Port in Australia. Up to now, a total of 56 units of mobile port machines are purchased to handle containers and other large tonnage cargo at Hutchison's ports across the globe.

Confident in SANY's strong R&D and manufacturing strength, Hutchison Ports started to purchase large port machinery from SANY. 2 units of ship-to-shore container cranes STS410 were delivered first at Terminal 4 of HIT Kwai Tsing Port for a three-month debugging in February 2014 and another two were prepared and delivered after the trial period.

The light weight STSs are custom-designed and adopt advanced technologies, being able to lift over 7000 container per month. With outreach of 23m, hoisting capacity under spreader of 35t, the STS410 container cranes delivered high productivity in service.

To better meet customer's various demands at terminals, SANY has developed a series of large port machinery over the years including ship-to-shore container crane, rail-mounted gantry crane (RMG), rubber-tyre gantry crane (RTG) and other large material handling equipment. In 2016, 2 units of 40t STSs newly designed with latest technology were delivered to HIT in March and 6 units of RTGs purchased by HPH are still in production.
