SASSATELLI: DRIVING SYSTEMS FOR PIPES OF DIFFERENT DIAMETERS

Sassatelli, a leading manufacturer of accessories for machine tools has specialized, in recent years, in solving problems related to the machining of steel pipes of small and large diameters.

In cooperation with important manufacturers of machine tools, Sassatelli has created a wide range of products to drive and support pipes with diameters from 8 to 600 mm during the machining on lathes, grinders and gear hobbing machines.

Through its standard range of products, Sassatelli offers a lot of solutions to meet customer’s needs in fact of problems related to different machining processes.

The Sassatelli wide range starts with the modular live and dead centers, to which 11 truncated cone heads at 60° are applicable in order to obtain a field of use from 45 up to 600 mm: these may be stackable in a special device, specially designed to be easy-to-use and with extremely compact.

The driving centers with mechanic-action complete the range, with a field of use from 12 to 90 mm of diameter. By this system it is possible to increase the performance thanks to special self-balancing jaws that allow to work the element in both directions of rotation and even on not perpendicular surfaces. This driver is available with cylindrical shank 30x65, whereas for the larger models Sassatelli manufactures special conical bushes for direct mesh of the conic driving centres on the self-centering chuck.

The latest Sassatelli's products are the bidirectional pipe drivers, studied and manufactured for the traction of very large pipes, especially suitable for oil, wind, navy sector. They were designed with interchangeable jaws to improve the machining precision and to avoid the possible deformation of the processed component. This system is applicable directly on the spindle and allows to machine pipes with diameters up to 600 mm.

This dedicated research has allowed Sassatelli to develop an interesting innovative product with high technological content.
