New start at the EMO

News

The relief was felt everywhere. Under secure framework conditions, the European production industry boldly made a successful new start at the leading metalworking trade show, the EMO in Milan. SCHUNK presented solutions for automated, flexible workpiece machining. The highlight was the further developed iTENDO² smart toolholder, which was presented for the first time at the trade show.

700 exhibitors and 3,500 machines on display - these figures alone make the EMO in Milan, which ended on October 9, a success. The six-day leading trade show for metalworking was one of the first industrial trade shows to be held once again as a face-to-face event – and immediately attracted the impressive number of 60,000 visitors from 91 countries. They were attracted by the wide range of products related to machine tools, robots and automation systems presented by the approximately 700 exhibitors. SCHUNK was also there presenting innovative solutions for automated, flexible, and sustainable production. The highlight of process digitalization: The even more powerful iTENDO² smart toolholder which enables users to monitor their machining processes in a simple way.

Andreas Kühl, Managing Director of the SCHUNK subsidiary in Italy, expressed his great satisfaction at the end of the trade show: "The EMO in Milan provided a new start for us and an excellent opportunity to bring our clamping technology innovations to life. Nothing beats a face-to-face encounter and professional exchange with customers, partners, and new contacts. The visitors were less numerous, but very focused." The encouraging data on the development of the pandemic and the positive trend that is emerging in the metal and machine tool industry mean that he looks positively into the future.

Production is becoming increasingly autonomous. The clever combination of gripping systems and clamping technology enables flexible pallet loading of machine tools.
