Permanent - removable double-sided adhesive foam

Maximum strength is not always required in the field of self-adhesive labels.

Sometimes an adhesive tape needs to be removable, in other words that can be detached from a surface without leaving residue.

It is also possible, however, that both functions, removability and high adhesion, are required of a special double-sided adhesive.

This is essentially a double-sided adhesive tape, but we were asked to also use transfers of different adhesive capacity!

In this case, the objective was to create a closed-cell PE foam on one side with an adhesive capable of adhering strongly on difficult surfaces, and an easily removable adhesive on the other side.

The aim was to temporarily attach a piece on the removable side, work the piece and then detach it without damage.

This tape had to be suitable for use several times before replacement with a new one.

The removable side was the toughest challenge as it had to have sufficient strength to hold the work piece but not so much that it could not be removed without causing damage.

Several tests were necessary to arrive at a solution that met with the customer's satisfaction.
