Making USB Devices Available via the Network

Deviceserver myUTN-2500 by SEH: Multifunctional USB Management

The German device and dongle server manufacturer SEH Computertechnik GmbH raises the bar when it comes to USB device management via company networks. The new flagship myUTN-2500 has 3 USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports instead of just one that its predecessor myUTN-250 had. Supported operating systems are Windows, OS X/macOS and Linux.

In addition, SEH has significantly increased the device's USB data throughput. Data is transmitted at top speed on all three USB ports. The Deviceserver myUTN-2500 provides 900 mA of current on each of the three ports so that devices without integrated power supply such as external 2.5-inch hard disk drives can be used on the ports. Furthermore, the myUTN-2500's third USB port complies with the Charging Downstream Port (CDP) standard and provides an output power of at least 1.5 A so that it can be used to charge cell phone or similar devices. You can for example easily charge an iPhone or iPad or Android devices thanks to the 1.5 A.

New Architecture and State of the Art Technology

The platform chosen is state of the art for embedded systems and is future-proof so SEH can base future enhanced models on it. The main focus for the conceptual design was to ensure data transmission at top speed.

Especially the USB data throughput was considerably increased for all 3 USB ports but the overall performance of the entire system was significantly enhanced as well.

"The new myUTN-2500 is particularly suited for company applications in which a fast data throughput between client and USB device is essential," explains Jörg Hecke, Product Marketing Manager at SEH. "Up to now customers always praised that the preceding model supports such a wide range of different USB devices really well. The multi operating system support and the number of features received praise as well. On the other hand, they criticized the USB data throughput in the network. We listened and improved the data throughput accordingly."

Technical data:

• Dimensions: 140 mm × 32 mm × 99 mm

• Weight: 160 g myUTN-2500 (plus 290 g power pack with power cord)
