HOW MUCH IMPACT IS THE BRAZING TEMPERATURE HAVING ON DURATION OF YOUR PCD TOOLS?

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

The most delicate process in making a brazed tool with a PCD insert is the brazing procedure itself. This is because the diamond cutting inserts, if subject to temperatures above 700 °C, they tend to turn into graphite, losing their hardness characteristics and consequently the tool life could be reduced as little as 60%.

When the operator has no instrumental control of the brazing temperature, he is limited to rely only on his attention and experience to prevent making damage.

In case that happens, the only thing the operator can do is to unbraze it and replace it with a new insert. What solutions do you have to avoid this from happening? In your company, how do you try to prevent this problem?

Using temperature readers it is possible to communicate in a precise and immediate way with the PLATINUM induction generators, the spot less than a millimeter allows perfect and repeatable reading and control of the temperature even of the smallest PCD inserts, while the infrared thermo cameras are more suitable for controlling the temperature of large inserts.

With a single temperature reader, you can give a control tool to your operator, and together combining the power modulation and setting the maximum threshold temperature you can prevent PCD inserts from turning into graphite.

Guarantee the performance of your PCD inserts is the best strategy to gain the trust of your customers.
