Track your products with the DATAMATRIX

Today everyone talks about industrial traceability, a word that identifies the ability to trace the production processes of a particular product, starting from the procurement of raw materials to information on disposal.

Each product is characterized by a series of data such as information on:

• raw materials

• production processes

• production sites

• and quality control tests

which are saved in a database and summarized in an alphanumeric code.

The challenge today is to find a way to trace all this information directly from the finished product.

The Datamatrix code is the evolution of the bar code with the difference that it is two-dimensional and matrix, composed of black and white cells. Its main feature is to be able to encode a large number of information in a very small space.

The number of characters that can be stored in the 2D code depends on the number of cells that compose it.

The size of the code varies based on the amount of data to be encoded, the type of data, and the marking technique that defines the size of the cell.

LASER technology is the most suitable method for marking the Datamatrix. It allows minuscule cell size, therefore able to achieve a very small datamatrix. In addition, the high definition and contrasts also make it easier to read the 2D code with the appropriate tools.
