IP69K Certification

What does IP69K mean and why is it important when choosing a load cell?

The Ingress Protection (IP) rating system is a recognized scale that relates to proven protection against environmental factors, such as water and solids.

Ingress protection ratings can be identified by the IP, followed by two numbers.

These numbers are related to the grade of protection a load cell, either analog or digital, has against specified elements and its degree to support rough environments.

The first number refers to the amount of protection a load cell has against solids (like dust), while the second number refers to the degree of protection against liquids.

In IP69K, number 6 indicates that there is no ingress of dust, complete protection against contact, and number 9K indicates that the load cell is protected from steam-jet cleaning.

When using load cells in damp environments, full protection against water is essential. Especially in applications demanding the most in terms of cleaning, such as the food processing where hygiene and cleanliness are critical, load cells must be able to withstand high pressure and temperatures.

In these cases, IP68 protection is insufficient. SENSOCAR owns load cell models certified at IP69K, the highest degree of protection, for different applications: Platforms (TA-1 load cell model), Weighbridges(SP and CS load cell Series) and Silos.
