ZSW Heavy-duty Vibrating Feeder Adjustment Guide (Dual Eccentric Shaft Exciter Type for Sand & Quarry)
Step-by-step parameter tuning for feed rate, amplitude and pre-screening in aggregate crushing lines
The ZSW series is a gear-synchronized dual eccentric shaft inertial vibrating feeder, widely used as feeding equipment for quarry and aggregate crushing & screening plants. Key adjustable parameters include exciter eccentric counterweight, hopper gate, gripper gap, variable frequency speed control and support springs.
**Safety Reminder: All mechanical adjustments must be performed with the machine shut down, power disconnected and lockout-tagout (LOTO) applied.**
1. Exciter Eccentric Counterweight Adjustment (Most common, to change excitation force & amplitude)
Working principle: Two eccentric shafts rotate synchronously. Higher overlap of eccentric blocks delivers larger excitation force, greater amplitude and higher feed capacity.
1. Cut off power and lock the machine. Remove protective covers on both ends of the exciter, loosen the clamping bolts of eccentric blocks, rotate the eccentric blocks on both sides synchronously. **The angle of both eccentric blocks must remain identical.** Larger overlapping area generates stronger excitation force.
2. Tighten bolts after adjustment, reinstall the covers and test amplitude under no-load condition. Recommended amplitude: 1.5~2.5 mm. Do not increase amplitude blindly when handling wet and sticky materials.
Notes: Make small adjustments in multiple trials. Never adjust the eccentric block on a single side alone.
2. Hopper Gate Adjustment (Control material bed thickness, quick feed flow tuning)
Wider gate opening increases material bed thickness and feed rate; narrower opening reduces material flow.
This method requires no modification to the exciter and is ideal for fast fine-tuning for coarse aggregates. Avoid excessive gate opening to prevent material compression and blockage. For precise stable flow control, combine gate adjustment with eccentric blocks or frequency converter.
3. Grizzly Bar Gap Adjustment (Pre-screening function, exclusive feature of ZSW)
Grizzly bars are installed at the front of the machine trough to pre-screen fine materials and reduce the load on downstream crushers.
Adjust grizzly gap width by adding or removing shims. Larger gaps mean less fine material enters the crusher. If grizzly bars are clogged, clean accumulated material before parameter adjustment.
4. Variable Frequency Speed Control (Optional, stepless continuous feed regulation)
With optional frequency converter, no disassembly of eccentric blocks is needed. Vibration frequency and feeding speed can be modified directly. Higher frequency brings faster feeding speed.
Avoid resonance zone during operation. Normal working frequency range: 35~50 Hz, to prevent fatigue damage of machine frame and support springs.
5. Support Spring Inspection & Adjustment (Ensure stable vibration balance)
Four groups of support springs realize vibration isolation and maintain stable vibration mode. When the machine is shut down, press four corners of the trough; rebound must be uniform. Aged or broken springs lead to unstable feeding.
When replacing springs, replace all four springs with the same model as a complete set. **Do not replace only one single spring.**
6. Trough Installation Angle
The trough is basically horizontal from factory. On-site angle modification is generally not recommended. If minor adjustment is necessary, the maximum angle shall not exceed 3°. Excessive tilt will cause material rushing and splashing.
Recommended On-site Commissioning Sequence
1. Clean grizzly bars and inspect the condition of support springs.
2. Adjust hopper gate to proper opening to avoid material compression.
3. Fine-tune eccentric blocks under no-load condition, test amplitude and check abnormal noise & torsional vibration.
4. Run trial operation with material, optimize parameters slightly.
5. Record optimal parameters as standard working condition for future reference.
Troubleshooting & Adjustment Solutions
- Material accumulation & slow feeding: Increase excitation force or widen gate opening. For wet sticky material, clean clogged grizzly bars first.
- Unstable fluctuating feed flow: Inspect springs, synchronism of dual eccentric blocks and bridging issues inside the hopper.
- High current, loud noise & violent frame shaking: Reduce the overlap of eccentric blocks, check anchor bolts and springs.
The ZSW vibrating feeder is commonly adopted as front feeding equipment paired with DM multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crushers to form complete aggregate crushing lines for continuous and stable hard rock secondary and tertiary crushing.
