Simple transfer to the cloud

Siemens expands portfolio with new gateway for plug & play mobile wireless router

Siemens is expanding its range of network components for harsh environmental conditions to include new functions for its Ruggedcom RX1400 plug & play router. The router is now available with the Siemens CloudConnect IIoT gateway solution for data acquisition, filtering, conversion and communication with cloud based applications, including those hosted on Siemens’ own MindSphere cloud. Using Ruggedcom RX1400 with CloudConnect it is now possible to easily and reliably pull data from Modbus TCP and S7 based devices and pre-process it prior to transfer to MindSphere or any cloud solution that supports the industry standard MQTT protocol. A trigger management feature also enables event-driven and cyclical communication between the application and the cloud.

The RX1400’s multi-function capability allows end devices to connect using WLAN, serial or conventional Ethernet wiring, and a stable connection with the cloud can be set up with redundant paths using LTE, copper or fiber optics technology. The resulting connection provides high bandwidth and reliability to benefit users in remote locations. The Ruggedcom RX1400 router works reliably under even the most hostile environmental conditions at temperatures ranging from -40 to +85 degrees Celsius, making it particularly suited to industrial applications from electric power and transportation to oil and gas. Ruggedcom RX1400 with CloudConnect is a compact mobile wireless router combining functions such as Ethernet switching, wireless LAN, routing, firewall and several long-range connection options such as gigabit fiber optics.
