Precise positioning, quick device exchange

Cost-effective, compact stainless steel antennas for flush mounting in metal

Siemens is expanding its portfolio for industrial identification to include three Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) stainless steel antennas - ANT 12, ANT 18 and ANT 30. The cost-effective, compact round antennas can be connected to the proven Simatic RF250R and RF350R RFID readers as well as to the handheld Simatic RF350M and have a reading range of up to 60 millimeters. The antennas can be positioned very precisely in the plant and are used primarily in small assembly lines as well as for tool identification.

The new stainless-steel round antennas are particularly cost-effective compared to the well-known identical plastic antennas. In addition, the new devices are characterized by the drag chain-capable, double-sided pluggable antenna cable. This means that there is no need to remove the complete cable from the cable routing in the event of an antenna defect. This greatly facilitates and speeds up the replacement of the devices. In addition, the connecting cable has an M8 straight and an M8 angled connector for connecting both sides to reader or antenna. This, as well as the compact design of the antennas and the possibility of flush installation of the devices in metal, allow space-saving installation and very precise positioning in the plant. Thanks to the high degree of protection IP67(protection against the ingress of water and foreign bodies) and extended temperature range from -20 to +70 degrees Celsius, the stainless steel antennas, which are developed and manufactured in Germany, are ideal for use in harsh industrial environments.
