Logistics and certifications : SIG Energy Technology’s commitments

SIG Energy provide UN38.3 certificate and certificates required to obtain authorizations to transport dangerous goods by road (ADR), by air (defined by the International Civil Aviation Organization) and by sea (defined by the International Maritime D

The transport of lithium-ion cells and batteries is ruled by strict regulations. Classified as "dangerous goods", they must possess specific certificates in order to be delivered to the end-customer.

SIG Energy Technology offers a wide range of cells and batteries, available in quantity, thanks to an important buffer stock nearby Paris. The strategic position of the warehouse, located on a major European axis of transportation, enables the company to deliver to all the customers in this geographic zone in the best delays.

To ensure the safety and speed of the delivery, SIG Energy Technology is responsible for collecting all certificates related to the transport of its goods. In addition to the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet), that must accompany each cell or battery, and gathers the data relative to the composition of a chemical product, the cells and batteries must satisfy a set of safety tests.

The UN38.3 certificate, based on criteria defined by the United Nations, shall be issued after extended testing related to altitude, heat, vibration, shock, impact, etc. This certificate is required to obtain authorizations to transport dangerous goods by road (ADR), by air (as defined by the International Civil Aviation Organization - ICAO and International Air Transport Association - IATA) and by sea (as defined by the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code).

All of SIG Energy Technology’s customers receive the cell and battery specification sheets and test reports upstream. It should be noted that the speed of delivery has an impact on the duration of the warranty. The use is that the battery warranty is activated when it leaves the warehouse. For batteries coming directly from China, the warranty can therefore start several weeks before the products are delivered to the customer in Europe. In the case of SIG, the warranty is activated from the warehouse in France, just a few days before delivery.

Finally, it should be noted that SIG Energy Technology’s logistics department, in particular the storage and order preparation, benefits from the ISO 9001 quality certification, as well as as the whole company.
