Application #19 MultiCon Level monitoring of storage tanks filling

MultiCon line recorders have a built-in RS-485 communication port as standard. Therefore, it is possible to communicate with any device equipped with an interface that supports the ModBus solution. In such a combination, MultiCon can play the role of Master or Slave.

MultiCon line recorders have a built-in RS-485 communication port as standard. Therefore, it is possible to communicate with any device equipped with an interface that supports the ModBus solution. In such a combination, MultiCon can play the role of Master or Slave.

An exemplary application for level monitoring of starage tanks filling by measuring their weight uses, among other things, communication capabilities of the recorder.

The application uses the CMC-99-PS32/ETU/E/E/E-0B1 model in cooperation with four SWI-94-1G33-1-3-0P1 weighing meters.

Signal inputs

This version of the recorder does not have typical signal inputs, in this case the transmission of measurement data takes place via the ModBus RTU protocol. Measurement data from individual tank scales is sent directly from SWI weighing meters to MultiCon CMC-99.

Communication

The ETU module enables the recorder to be connected to the Ethernet network, and thus the recorded parameters can be read remotely in real time. In addition, it also allows you to connect the device to a corporate network with Internet access.

Configuration

The display of the MultiCon shows the values of 4 scales read from the SWI-94 meters with a resolution of up to 0.1 kg. In addition, there is a button on the screen that allows you to activate and suspend the registration, thanks to which the user can define the scope of the report in advance. If a value below the minimum in one of the tanks is reached, the appropriate alarm is highlighted on the display, and an e-mail with a notification is sent to the user.
