ASTM G155

Standard method for exposure to non-metallic materials in xenon lamp aging test chambers

ASTM G155 is the basic method for assessing the resistance of materials to the harshest environmental and solar exposure conditions. The standard uses xenon lamp light sources to quickly simulate the effects of the sun's ultraviolet rays, such as light intensity, humidity and heat, which can cause non-metallic materials to become less aesthetically attractive.

SONACME is proud to provide xenon aging test chamber in accordance with ASTM G155 standard. With ASTM G155 testing, we can realistically simulate the effects of accelerated aging caused by UV radiation, whether outdoors or through a window.

ASTM G155 is used to age a wide range of products in a wide range of industries, including the automotive industry, surface coatings, pharmaceutical light stability testing, printing inks, roofing, rubber, adhesives, automotive, textiles, geotextiles, and more.

This method repeatedly exposes the sample to a filtered xenon arc, simulating different conditions depending on the filter used. Depending on the conditions you wish to simulate, humidity and in some cases a rain cycle that simulates watering are also combined with exposure, all in a controlled environment.

There are many practical advantages to using ASTM G155. With this method, we can predict how materials and products will react when exposed to sunlight for a long period of time, which is crucial to maintaining the aesthetics, durability and actual performance of materials and products. In addition, it helps to establish sound specifications and performance standards for various industries, enhancing consumer confidence and satisfaction with products that have undergone these in-depth tests.

The xenon lamp aging test chamber independently developed and produced by Sonacme meets the test requirements of ASTM G155 test standards, including:

Total exposure time (hours) (used to simulate indoor/outdoor conditions)

lamp filter

Lamp irradiance

Type and duration of moisture exposure

The duration of light and moisture exposure

Light temperature

Humidity Indicates the irradiation temperature

Time of light/dark cycle

The xenon aging test chamber of Sonacme can not only meet ASTM G155 test standards, but also meet multiple ASTM test methods. These include ASTM D2565, ASTM D4459, and ISO 4892. In addition to ASTM G154 and G155 tests, you can also learn mpre about our other accelerated aging test chambers for coatings, paints and polymers. Please feel free to contact us.
