What does Made in Britain membership mean for air quality monitoring customers?

As an accredited manufacturer, the Made in Britain collective mark will be applied to the housing of every instrument manufactured by South Coast Science. Receiving the Made in Britain accreditation demonstrates high quality manufacturing in an industry where scientific precision is essential for high quality data. South Coast Science instruments enable reliable and actionable air quality reporting.

Designed to separate noise from environmental data

Air quality monitoring is a rapidly growing sector, spurred on by growing environmental concerns over the last few years and the COVID-19 pandemic in the last few months. A number of companies now manufacture low-cost air quality monitoring products.

The biggest challenge for producing accurate, real-time air quality data is around noise reduction, which means ensuring the data isn’t skewed by disturbance to the instrument from variations in temperature, humidity and other environmental phenomena. Given the current lack of air quality monitoring regulations, it can be difficult for a non-scientist to evaluate the quality of the data produced by a given manufacturer.

South Coast Science design and manufacturing uses open source principles to meet the need for accurate air quality reporting across a wide range of field conditions. In addition, data is transmitted in real-time via the cloud so it can be easily stored, or viewed from anywhere in the world.

The Made in Britain Code of Conduct requires members to provide evidence their business adheres to the organisation’s published terms, which warrants that their products do what they claim and are manufactured in Britain, according to all relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
