Sealing solution on transfer lines to reduce dust emissions and product spills

Installation of LIFTUBE on 4 conveyors

PROBLEM :

When loading clinker from railcars and trucks to the silo via clinker transfer conveyors, dust emissions and spillages were a problem that raised environmental concerns. For the past 6 years, the customer has been using the Liftube 1000 sealing solution on its clinker transfer lines to reduce dust emissions and product spills on 3 conveyors at these transfer points. The lines run from the offloading tippler to the clinker storage silo. In 2024, PPC entrusted Standard Industrie International with the installation of an additional Liftube solution on the last of the transfer point conveyors, conveyor B39.

SOLUTION :

The PPC Hercules clinker transfer line consists of 4 main transfer point conveyors.

- The B38 conveyor transfer point (Liftube solution installed in 2017) which receives material from the railcars at skip level.

- Followed by an installation on the B110 conveyor transfer point (Liftube solution installed in 2021).

- The last installation was at the transfer point on conveyor B40 (Liftube solution installed in 2023).

- After a successful installation on these three conveyors, Standard Industrie International had the opportunity to exercise its expertise once again by providing a technical recommendation for a 15-meters LIFTUBE1000 for conveyor B39, which it successfully installed by coupling the dust removal unit already present on the conveyor. Furthermore, the physical installation was carried by Standard Industrie as a full turnkey solution.

RESULT :

The installation was completed in time, during the shutdown period with no overtime and no loss or injury.

After a week of operation, the customer was able to transfer 12,000 tons of clinker through the Liftube without any spillage or dust emission.
