Stauff extends its range of assembly machines

Versatile and compact – cutting ring assembly and 37° tube flaring

Stauff is targeting its new cutting ring assembly machine SPR-PRC-MA at companies who require a compact and extremely versatile machine for hydraulic connection technology. The SPR-PRC-MA is ideal for the assembly of cutting rings as well as the 37° flaring of tube ends. The pressure required for cutting ring assembly can either be determined automatically or adjusted and set manually.

The durable electro-hydraulic-operated table-top device from the Stauff Press range is ideal for the pressure-controlled assembly of cutting rings from the Light and Heavy Series in accordance with ISO 8434-1 / DIN 2353 on tube ends with outer diameters between 6 mm and 42 mm. Thanks to the tooling heads, which can be replaced in a matter of moments, the machine can also provide tubes with dimensions of up to 42 x 4 mm in the Light Series and up to 38 x 5 mm in the Heavy Series with 37° flaring in accordance with DIN 3949 or SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2. With the aid of the appropriate assembly tools, tubes in imperial sizes up to 1 1/2 inches can also be flared in compliance with the standard.

Thanks to the compact design of the machine housing and its optimised assembly area, tube bends with small bending radii and complex geometries can also be handled with ease.

The cutting ring is assembled with a tooling head, which automatically detects the required pressure parameters based on the tube dimensions set in the assembly tools, thereby reducing the risk of assembly errors and, at the same time, ensuring a consistently high level of machining. Up to 7 assembly programs per diameter can be saved in the machine’s internal memory. The tube materials E235 and E355 steel as well as stainless steel 316 are pre-programmed as standard.

Alternatively, a second tooling head is available, with which the pressure can only be set manually using the control button and the illuminated parameter display. The setting values recommended for the assembly of Stauff Connect cutting rings are supplied on delivery of the machine.

The focus with the development of the new assembly machine was on short set-up, assembly and tool change times – e.g. when adapting the tube diameter or changing the machining process. This provides for the machining of small and medium quantities with a high level of economic efficiency, reproducibility and process reliability and safety. The adjustable return stroke of the cylinder, set by the user to meet his need, also shortens assembly times.

These qualities thus always make the SPR-PRC-MA the machine of choice when users require a compact yet extremely versatile machine, which also performs well with small and medium production volumes.
