Monitoring filter condition now even more convenient

Two-stage contamination indicator switches off systems at risk as well as providing early warnings

High-pressure and medium-pressure filters from Stauff are now optionally available with the two-stage, optical-electrical contamination indicator of type HI-D024 for continuous monitoring of the degree of contamination of filters in hydraulic and lubricating oil systems.

The indicator in the form of a microprocessor-controlled pressure switch determines the pressure in front of the filter – resulting from increased contamination of the element – and the resulting differential pressure over the filter. It is equipped with two alarm outputs: when 75 per cent of the set pressure value is reached, a yellow LED lights up and an output signal is set, e.g. as an early warning for the machine operator or the responsible maintenance personnel. When 100 per cent of the defined differential pressure has been reached, another LED lights up red. A second, additional output signal can be used, for example, to initiate automatic shutdown of the system.

To trigger a switching process, the corresponding pressure has to be exceeded for at least four seconds. This can effectively prevent malfunctions caused by transient pressure peaks.

The robust quality of the housing made of stainless steel and durable polycarbonate allows the device to be used under adverse ambient conditions, e.g. in mobile hydraulics. Protection rating IP 67 can be achieved with the threaded connector attached.

Existing systems, where pressure filters were previously used without any or with conventional, single-stage contamination indicators, can easily be retrofitted.
