Ceramics are generally seemed to be hard but brittle. However, there is a ceramic called artificial diamond, "zirconia".

It has an advantage in high toughness, and that makes this material intensive, and abrasion-resistant. Some of you might be familiar with this material since zirconia is used for kitchen knives or teeth in daily life as well. Especially for teeth, zirconia is very popular recently because the whiteness is beautiful and it will never cause allergic to metal.

For industries, it is often used for bearings, jigs for heater machines, joints of robots, and so on. If you have any problems with intensity, abrasion resistance, or heat resistance, zirconia would be the answer to solve the problems.
