DAF system Anaconda® FRL for high flows totally made in GRP

Toro Equipment has launched this new Dissolved Air Flotation System Anaconda® FRL manufactured totally in GRP to treat flows from 200 m³/hour up to 600 m³/hour

Toro Equipment has designed this new dissolved air flotation unit completely in GRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer) to aim the best mechanical and physical properties and to optimize manufacturing process and the installation at destination. In the new range GRP Anaconda® FRL Dissolved Air Flotation, steel components have been removed and new pieces made in GRP have been installed with an innovative design adapted to their features. Essential parts of the unit, like the structure, the gangway or the stairs, that before were made in stainless steel, now are manufactured in GRP improving deadlines, durability and competitiveness.

The transport of the Anaconda® FRL can be done by shipping containers or conventional trucks. Its lightness and simple installation allow an easy set up, independent of the place where the implementation has to be carried out.

With this new range of Anaconda® FRL Dissolved Air Flotation units made entirely in GRP, Toro Equipment reduce manufacturing time, deadlines and it consolidates definitively as the leader in water treatment equipment in harsh or saline environment which have a negative impact in the most part of materials. In addition, the possibility to transport it in ship container and its lightness and simple installation make possible to install it everywhere in the world.

GRP, the alternative

Technological development and the evolution of the materials have resulted in a cost reduction associated with manufacturing processes. The automation of these processes have turned the GRP into an economically viable alternative. Its properties and characteristics -chemical and mechanical- favor the durability of certain pieces or the resistance to many variables.

Until recently, the glass fiber reinforced plastic have been used, almost exclusively, in secondary structures or rare forms. However, new artistic movements used GRP as main material to create complex shapes. Its capacity to be molded and its lightness turn it into an ideal material for the construction of modernist structures. In spite of artistic character which with it started to be used in construction, technological development have allowed its strengthening as one of the best solution in harsh environments.

GRP and water treatment

In the waste and water treatment field, this evolution has supposed a decisive step to combat some constants such as the corrosion, the oxidation or the inlay that often cause problems in the proper operation of waste water treatment plants. Some of these problems appeared with traditional materials used in WWTP’s or in the equipment which compose it. Concrete and steel are each time more disadvantaged with composite development, which improve its quality, its durability, its price and, therefore, its competitiveness.

Inside WWTP, drinkable or residual, industrial or urban, it is increasingly frequent to find numerous pieces made in GRP, flanges, connections, lamellas, storage tanks… The resistance to acids (leachates, mining industry), to salinity (seawater, canning industry), to halogens usual in drinkable water treatment (fluoride, chlorine, iodine), to oils, to basic compounds... make GRP the ideal material to make all kinds of pieces that are in constant contact with liquid to treat or are placed in harsh environment.
