TR achieves WIN 8 compatibility

Most of TR-Electronic's sensor systems can be customized to the requirements of the application via software. Depending on the model, the rotary encoder and linear encoder measuring steps can, for example, directly be converted into machine units, the measured value output can be moved by a fixed offset, preset values can be set, and the output of special bits can be set. An interesting function, especially in rotary encoders, is the presentation of conversion factors as numerator/denominator fractions which allows achieving a smooth value transition even with live axes.

When it comes to field buses, the projecting software controls the access to the adjustable parameters with the standardized and extended encoder profiles. Where direct interfaces are concerned – especially analog and synchronous serial interfaces, SSI – most TR encoders allow direct programming access via a robust RS485 interface which works reliably even over large line lengths. To achieve this, the programming terminal connection is installed within optimal reach (e.g., in the switch cabinet) using a TR-Electronic switch cabinet module, and the programming lines run to the measuring system in the same line which is also used for supply and data transport.

The new version 5 of the TR-Electronic programming adapter is connected to the USB port and logs on as HID device. A special driver is not necessary and any related problems are a thing of the past. This technology can also be used to safely connect the programming adapter to latest Windows(R) operating systems. The rotary and linear encoder parameters can be conveniently set using the TR-WinProg software. After the connected measuring system has been identified, the software offers nothing but the parameters that can actually be set in the device in question.

The programming adapter is delivered in a plastic case. The scope of delivery includes a connecting cable each to the PC and to a TR switch cabinet module (SubD 15). The software is delivered on a DVD. The latest version can be downloaded from the service area of the TR website. Using a makeshift connection, the encoder can be supplied on the desk through the included AC adapter; if used in the switch cabinet, the encoder and the PC adapter are supplied from the 24-V bar of the system. To protect the connected PC, the USB part is completely DC-decoupled from the system side.
