Rotary encoders for explosive atmospheres

Automation applications must often be run in explosive atmospheres, even outside the actual processing technology. The higher the automation degree, the more often use must be made of precise rotary encoders even in environments with an explosive atmosphere, e.g., in automated paint finishing systems, in the bagging area of plastic or flour mills or in construction machines for onshore and offshore geographical surveys. TR-Electronic's A__70 devices feature state-of-the-art encoder technology to be used in zones 1 (explosive gases) and 21 (explosive dust-air mixtures). TR-Electronic is a certified manufacturer of this in-house development. The devices feature latest encoder technology inside, such as it can also be found in industry standard C__58. The A__70 series comprises a wide range of versions from simple magnetic scanning to high-resolution glass encoders. The variety of interfaces is only limited by the appropriate approved cables for explosive atmospheres. As is the case with almost all of TR-Electronic's rotary encoders, the A__70 encoder can also be programmed such that it can be adapted to its tasks in the field. On delivery, the certified line is as long as desired by the customer and directly connected to the encoder, i.e., the technician does not have to apply the sensor lines in the protected encoder. This effectively prevents

explosion protection from being lost by improperly opening the encoder housing.

In addition to the robust aluminum version, TR-Electronic also offers the A__70 series which is completely made of stainless steel. The devices can therefore also be used in food technology, salt fog and other aggressive environments without any problems.
