TUTCO Electric Air Heaters Used for “breakout” Process

applications for electrical air heaters

Automotive glass is just one of the applications using TUTCO air heaters. After glass is created from the raw materials and cut into the proper shape, it is ready for a process called “breakout”. At the breakout station, the cut glass is heated from eight to twelve points, usually near the corners, creating a thermal shock that allows the unnecessary glass to break away. The heating which is done from above has used natural gas burners and propane torches in the past, however, TUTCO air heaters do the job just as well and are cleaner and safer.

The outlet air temperature required for this process is approximately 500º C. The heaters can be re-positioned horizontally to adjust for different contours of glass. They can also be raised or lowered depending on the thickness of the glass.

Regardless of your industry or applications, TUTCO can provide a variety off-the-shelf and custom heater solutions. To learn more, email me at andreas.osten@tutcosureheat.com.
