Project Redesign Capacitive Level Measurement with IO-Link

"Bescheinigungsstelle Forschungszulage GbR"

On 1st January 2020, the law on tax support for research and development (FZulG; BGBl I p. 2763) came into force, which favors tax relief for research expenditure by companies subject to tax in Germany. The research allowance is a measure that is intended to help companies in Germany remain innovative and survive in global competition.

Tax research funding supports companies in their research activities, regardless of size, legal form and industry. All R&D projects are generally eligible for funding. It doesn’t matter which subject area the project is based on. Numerous companies are already benefiting from the research allowance. UWT GmbH has already been considered several times by the research allowance for the development of innovative products and has received government funding that has been invested in research and development activities at the headquarters in Betzigau.

Project Redesign Capacitive Level Measurement with IO-Link

Capacitive level measurement is based on the principle of changing the capacitance between a sensor and the medium (liquid or solid) that is to be measured. The capacity varies depending on the level of the medium above the sensor. This reacts when the sensor tip is touched by the medium with a change in capacitance and then switches a signal output (relay or transistor).

As part of the redesign of our Capanivo® 7000 series the innovative IO-Link technology was integrated into the capacitive level sensors. IO-Link is a standardized communication protocol that makes it possible to connect sensors and actuators with higher-level control systems. It enables bidirectional communication and real-time data transfer as well as device parameterization and diagnostics via a single connection.

Innovative User Solutions

Capacitive level measurement with IO-Link technology is an advanced method for accurately monitoring material levels in various industrial applications, giving our customers an intelligent solution for full, demand and empty detection in process containers. The sensors can not only provide precise level information, but also communicate with other components in an automated system via IO-Link.
