Why we believe API670 is a must read for reliability engineers?

One of the mostly used standards for condition monitoring and protection systems has been API670 since 1976, in 5th editions from 1976 to 2014. In each edition it has developed new methods and techniques required to keep up with the trend. For example, bearing temperature measurements was added in 2nd edition, Vendor drawings were added in 3rd edition, rod drop measurements & over speed protection in 4th edition and surge detection & emergency shutdown were added to 5th edition. Moreover a complete set of recommendations for condition monitoring software and hardware including machinery damage detection software displays like order analysis (1X,…) , Bearing frequency indicator, Waterfall, gearbox vibration analysis, etc. has been added to this edition which makes it a must read for maintenance & reliability engineers.
