A success case: our partnership with the most renowned producer of Caribbean rum worldwide

Bacardi brand since 1862

We signed an important partnership with Bacardi, that chose a vertical filtration system realized by VLS Technologies to produce its world-famous rum. Established in Santiago de Cuba in 1862, Bacardi rum is the world’s favorite and most awarded rum. The strong product portfolio includes BACARDÍ Superior, recognized the world over as the premium rum that inspired the cocktails that we know and love today. Acquiring General Beverage, owner of Martini & Rossi Group, Bacardi in 1993 has doubled its size becoming on of the largest global producers of spirits. Today the group has many well-know spirits brands as Bombay Sapphire gin or Grey Goose vodka.

VLS Technologies’ supply to Bacardi

We provided Bacardi with a 15 sq.m vertical pressure leaf filter FVV-15 with ASME certification for the USA market. This filter was specifically designed to be included in a wider production plant, with flanges to be connected to fixed ducts both for input and output valves, also on de unloading valve of the chamber. In addition the filter is equipped with a system for the authomatic lifting of the cover of the filtering chamber, that enable the user to directly access to the filtering sectors.

ASME Certification

For the vertical filtration system supplied to Bacardi, we obtained a special ASME Certification. ASME’s Conformity Assessment program is the leading, universally recognized, independent Quality Assurance (QA) program that certifies that manufacturing, power generation, stamped products and parts fulfill the requirements of relevant ASME codes and standards. The Mark gives confidence that relevant QA processes, products and parts are safe, high-quality, reliable and consistent. In many countries, ASME certification is a means of complying with regulations, while also promoting global commerce. Utilization of the Mark provides a way of complying with the laws and regulations in nearly all U.S. States and Canadian Provinces. In countries where the ASME Mark is not legally required, it is invaluable in providing users with confidence that stamped items conform to established safety standards.

Partnerships with major brands that operate globally with high quality standards, as Bacardi, represent a challenge for us to constantly enhance the internal processes and the design of solutions fro the filtration of spirits. Vertical filtration systems as that supplied to Bacardi are bespoke technologies that satisfy the specific client’s needs, but in the meantime they must respond to safety standards and international certifications. The effort to face those challenges is a real boost for our everyday work.
