Protection against machine breakdown

A safety coupling is a coupling that provides protection against mechanical overload and separates the drive and output sides from one another in a few fractions of a second.

A range of safety couplings for disengaement torques between 0,2 and 3000 Nm covers applications of the most varied kinds.

VMA Antriebstechnik GmbH has expanded its range with a new series safety couplings SIK-N. They are available in different variants: with ratcheting, in which the coupling returns directly to the next position after disengagement – as a rule after 15° , and with fixed points switching, in which the coupling usually

engages again after one complete rotation – after 360°.

Which model is suitable in each case depends, among other things, on the mass moments of inertia in the system, on the rotating speeds to be reached and on the overloads which can be expected. They are suitable for belt drive and have an integrated bearing for saving the drive elements. This new SIK -N Serie

are available with different assembly options like keyway mounting, clambing ring or conical hub.

With the extended series there are now optimal solutions for almost every application with disengagement moments between 0,2 and 3000 Nm.
