High-Performance Data Management in Wafer Prober with Volktek Switch INS-8408A

Ensuring Reliable, High-Speed Communication for Next-Generation DRAM Testing

Tokyo Electron’s Prexa™ MS is a fully automated 300mm wafer prober designed for advanced DRAM testing. As memory devices become more complex—requiring more test pins, generating more heat, and demanding precise high-load control—the system needs highly reliable data communication to maintain accuracy and throughput in mass production.

To meet these requirements, Tokyo Electron integrated the Volktek Switch INS-8408A into the Prexa™ MS. The switch was chosen for its reliability and stable performance in handling large volumes of test data. It ensures efficient LAN communication between the system’s control units, maintaining smooth data flow throughout the DRAM testing process.

The integration proved successful, with the Switch INS-8408A delivering robust and dependable network communication in a demanding semiconductor environment. This enhances the overall efficiency, reliability, and data integrity of the Prexa™ MS, supporting high-volume production and strengthening Tokyo Electron’s competitive edge in memory device testing.

Device flow:

Upstream devices: Control units and servers send protocols and commands through the INS-8408A.
Downstream devices: The switch forwards processed data to actuators and diagnostic tools for wafer handling and test analysis.
