VULKAN Couplings presents new coupling at the international shipbuilding trade fair SMM

The coupling specialist has in addition expanded its systems competence to include acoustics

At beginning of September, at the international leading trade fair SMM in Hamburg, the coupling manufacturer VULKAN in Herne introduces its new highly flexible coupling VULKARDAN F, a further development of VULKARDAN E which has been well-established for many years. The new coupling can be used in the main drive, auxiliary drive and for power generating in high-speed engines of freestanding and in particular flexibly positioned installations. Due to the compact design of VULKARDAN F not only could the installation length of the coupling be reduced, but also its weight by more than 40 percent. “This means not only better and more simple handling for our customers on board but also more space on the ship due to a more compact drive unit” Fabian Sommer, Product Manager at VULKAN is pleased to announce.

Apart from the new coupling VULKAN will also be introducing new concepts concerning acoustics at the SMM. This will complement VULKAN’s system expertise in the analysis and layout of drive units and responds to the requirements of customers for more comfort and the legal standards for emission protection.
