KNX IP Controller – Proven Concept for Building Automation on a New Level

The user-programmable KNX IP controller (750-889) is the all-rounder for flexible building automation that, among other things, can be used to connect, control, regulate and monitor all KNX devices from different building systems. Together with the I/O modules of the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750, you can easily integrate other sensors, actuators and sub-buses such as DALI and EnOcean in the controller. The router function in combination with the TP1 module automatically connects the KNX 2-wire world to the ETHERNET. Buildings or facilities can be conveniently operated via the Internet without limitation independent of the local network or your whereabouts.

Impressive Performance of the KNX IP Controller

There is a new high-performance processor with capable computing power in a stylish enclosure. Compared to its predecessor, the program memory is twice as large while data storage has been increased four-fold. The retain memory has also be increased by a third. This provides sufficient reserves for complex controller tasks. Not to forget is the integrated 2-port switch that makes it possible to integrate the 750-889 in an ETHERNET line topology, making it possible to connect the controller to other ETHERNET-based controllers without additional switches.

Another highlight: The SD card slot for extra memory. In this way, for example, complex Web visualizations can be implemented or trend log data conveniently saved to the SD card. The SD card is also practical for "backup & restore" functions: Archive the PLC program, copy it to another controller or restore it in case of service. Forget the IP address of the controller? The controller also scores here. At the touch of a button, the controller starts with a fixed IP address from which it is always accessible and reconfigurable. Limiting the telegram rates and the optimized boot sequence also improve network traffic for noticeably faster startup.

Improved Interaction between ETS and CODESYS

The SYM-XML file only has to be synchronized when there are changes to the KNX interface. For all other program changes in CODESYS, the SYM-XML does not have to be generated and imported between the controller and ETS software. For a better overview and faster operation, functions have been moved from the WAGO plug-in to the ETS among other things.
