WALTHER Faltsysteme reports results for 2020

A record year with a 20 % increase in turnover

In 2020, WALTHER Faltsysteme achieved a record growth despite the impact of the Covid-19 crisis: The manufacturer of customised reusable transport solutions generated a turnover of over 40 million euros, an increase of 20 percent compared to the previous year. This growth is largely due to the completion of major projects and various modernisation measures.

Several major projects contributed to the successful year. For example, WALTHER Faltsysteme greatly expanded its plastic pallet pool for a major company in the retail sector: Since the beginning of the project in 2017, the retail company introduced the reusable transport solution throughout Europe last year. The plastic pallet was one of WALTHER Faltsysteme's best-selling products in the past year.

In addition, the renewal of the folding box range contributed significantly to the success. "We have optimised our folding box. Thanks to the modular system, a wide variety of models and options are at present available for our users", says Dominik Lemken, Head of Project Management and Authorised representative at WALTHER Faltsyteme. The folding boxes are increasingly used in the areas of e-commerce and direct delivery.

In 2020, WALTHER Faltsysteme also launched a new product on the market : a roll container with an innovative, volume-reducing system. This innovation earned the manufacturer of reusable transport solutions the German Design Award and the Top 100 Innovators award.

Investments and ERP implementation

In order to produce faster and more energy-efficiently, WALTHER Faltsysteme decided to invest in four new injection moulding machines from ENGEL with clamping forces between 900 and 1,100 tonnes. Equipped with the latest technology, this new tooling reduces the loss of plastic granulate to a minimum.

"Sustainability is a priority for us. Not only do our reusable plastic transport solutions contribute to sustainability as an end product, but also our processes. With our latest machines, we are significantly reducing our energy consumption and thus contributing to the conservation of resources," says Thomas Walther, Managing Director of WALTHER Faltsysteme.

WALTHER Faltsysteme also achieved efficiency gains through the implementation of a new cloud-based ERP system and the simultaneous modernisation of the entire IT infrastructure. Projects and orders can thus be processed more quickly. In addition, the new ERP system improves the transparency of the processes.
