Digital magnetic scales MXS2 - Measurement of position and distance

Fully-automatic length measurements in the measuring range up to 8165 mm are possible with the magnetic scale or linear sensors MXS2 by WayCon Positionsmesstechnik GmbH.

Fully-automatic length measurements in the measuring range up to 8165 mm are possible with the magnetic scale or linear sensors MXS2 by WayCon Positionsmesstechnik GmbH. Apart from the SSI or BISS interface for the digital absolute output signal, the industrial 4.0-capable sensors have an additional incremental output for speed control. Typical areas of application are, for instance, automated systems in elevator technology, sawing technology or for the use of gantry cranes.

The magnetic scale measuring system consists of a robust magnetic tape that is affixed to the mounting surface and a digital sensor head. Contact-free and thus maintenance-free, it slides over the tape at a processing speed of up to 7 m/s. Its resistance to dirt and dust represents a significant added value compared to optical systems. The mounting distance between the magnetic tape and the sensor can be variably adjusted between 0.1 mm and 0.6 mm to ensure the flexibility of the sensor head even with particles in between. The magnetic scale sensors MXS2 from WayCon Positionsmesstechnik work with resolutions from 1 to 50 μm and have the protection class IP67.
