An exciting challenge for the specialists of WINKELMANN Elektromotoren

The WINKELMANN company has put a great deal of energy and expertise into developing an asynchronous motor for a specific user case.

The field of application of the new motor is very specific and part of the automotive industry. The company WINKELMANN Elektromotoren from Uelzen is a reliable and innovative partner for the development of motors for special application fields. The WINKELMANN design engineers and developers have met the new challenge by developing a motor for a particular test facility of the renowned test facility producer TEG – Technische Entwicklungsgesellschaft from Flechtorf that meets all requirements. The complex application situation made it necessary to pay attention to different technical details and comply with particular specifications. When considering design and electronics, the motor was regarded as a whole and all components were perfectly and effectively tailored to each other.

For its intended function, the motor had to withstand a continuous output of 40 kW at a motor speed of 10,000 rpm and be turnable by 80 degrees at full speed. This was accomplished by a mechanic construction and the use of special bearings. Another requirement was a high field weakening range; to achieve this, the winding was calculated accordingly and simulated in advance using a special simulation program. A particular challenge were the permissible vibrations of < 2 mm/s over the entire speed range up to 10,000 revolutions and the turning of the entire drive system by 160 degrees in one second. The integration of special components made it possible to create a particularly compact motor.

Having completed the development and production work as well as a successful testing and inspection phase, the motor is now used in the TEG test facility without any problems. Thanks to the high in-house production depth of 90 % and an own development department, WINKELMANN is able to respond to the specific needs of its customers within short time frames.
