Enhancing Bus Safety with Real-Time Video Surveillance and Driver Monitoring

Edge AI Computing and Multi-Camera Connectivity for Smarter Public Transportation

As public transportation systems become increasingly intelligent, bus operators need more than conventional video recording. Modern fleet safety systems must monitor the road, vehicle surroundings, passenger areas, entrances, and driver behavior in real time while identifying potential risks before they develop into serious incidents.

The Winmate WNAI-E600 Edge AI Computer, powered by the NVIDIA® Jetson AGX Orin™ platform with up to 275 TOPS of AI performance, provides the onboard computing capability required for real-time video analytics, driver monitoring, passenger safety, and intelligent transportation applications.

Up to Eight GMSL2 Cameras for Comprehensive Bus Coverage
The WNAI-E600 supports an optional configuration of up to eight GMSL2 cameras through FAKRA connectors, delivering the low-latency, high-bandwidth video transmission required for vehicle vision and situational-awareness applications. FAKRA connectors provide secure camera connections for vehicle installations, while GMSL2 technology supports reliable transmission of high-resolution video over automotive-grade cabling.

Vehicle Signal and Control System Integration
The WNAI-E600 features isolated 8-input/8-output digital I/O and isolated CAN Bus/CAN FD interfaces, enabling seamless integration with vehicle signals and control devices such as door open/close sensors, emergency buttons, reverse signals, brake and ignition status, warning lights, buzzers, motor controllers, vehicle sensors, and robotic control equipment. Beyond processing camera feeds and performing real-time AI analytics, the WNAI-E600 can use AI-generated results to trigger physical alerts or equipment actions, transforming visual intelligence into immediate operational responses.

Optional GigE PoE Configuration for IP Camera Applications
For projects based on Ethernet cameras, the WNAI-E600 is also available with an optional 4 × GigE LAN configuration supporting IEEE 802.3af PoE/PSE. PoE allows compatible cameras to receive power and transmit data through a single Ethernet cable, helping reduce cabling complexity inside the vehicle.

The GMSL2 and four-port PoE options are alternative configurations. System integrators can select the interface architecture that best matches the camera type, installation environment, and project requirements.

Rugged and Fanless for Continuous Bus Operation
Vehicle-mounted computing systems must withstand continuous vibration, road shock, temperature changes, dust, and extended operating hours. With E-Mark Certification and MIL-STD-810H shock and vibration resistance, the WNAI-E600 is designed for reliable in-vehicle deployment.

Its fanless, streamlined enclosure enables efficient heat dissipation, while eliminating the mechanical fan helps reduce maintenance requirements and removes a common point of failure in systems operating continuously inside moving vehicles.

Combined with its isolated 9V to 36V DC input and ACC ignition control, the WNAI-E600 provides a durable computing foundation for buses, commercial fleets, shuttles, and intelligent transportation systems.
