WoMaster WR222 NBIoT/Cat M1/LTE Router Releases New Secured MQTTS Design to Safeguard IoT Cloud Security

When the Cloud technology has become a major trend in the IT market, there was one major concern which made industrial users hesitant to adapt – security. With compliance issues over data protection and privacy high on the agenda of customer-facing operations, many enterprises felt uneasy about passing control of their critical communications infrastructure to a third party.

The most commonly used cloud protocol MQTT relies on the TCP transport protocol. By default, TCP connections do not use encrypted communication. To encrypt the whole MQTT communication, ThingsMaster and other MQTT brokers allow the use of TLS instead of plain TCP. In the mission-critical industrial application, encryption is mandatory and highly suggested for industrial communication. The MQTTS is standardized at IANA as “secure-mqtt”. All WoMaster Routers and Switches support the latest TLSv1.2 encryption and X.509 authentication.

In addition to secured cloud security, the WR222 acts as a reliable cellular or NBIoT gateway for environment sensors and Modbus RTU devices to the Modbus TCP server or the cloud platform. WR222 supports Modbus Read and Write to RTU and sensors for an integrated data collection and configuration solution.
