On May 15, 2024, the "2024 Laser and Optical Fiber Industry Technology Summit," co-hosted by the Hubei Optical Society and Laser Home, was grandly held at the Wuhan Optics Valley Chao Man Carey International Hotel. This summit brought together distinguished figures and company representatives from the fiber manufacturing and laser application fields, aiming to promote technological exchange and innovation, deepen inter-company cooperation, and advance the widespread application of laser and optical fiber technologies in medical, industrial processing, and optical communications sectors.

During the summit, Ruan Qiujun, a research and development engineer from Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd. (referred to as YOEC, stock code: 688143), was invited to deliver a speech titled "Applications of Homogenizing and Hollow Core Fibers in Medicine." Dr. Ruan detailed YOEC's breakthroughs in the field of specialty fiber manufacturing and the innovative integration of specialty fibers with laser medical technology. He highlighted the feasibility of homogenizing fibers for medical applications and the initial application results of hollow core fibers in the medical field, showcasing their tremendous potential in laser medical treatments.

Dr. Ruan pointed out that in the field of laser cosmetic surgery, solid-state lasers require homogenization technology to form a flat-top beam due to uneven energy distribution. Homogenizing fibers, used as output tail fibers, not only provide uniform light spots but also offer smaller laser sizes and more flexible operation. In the field of laser lithotripsy for urinary stones, femtosecond lasers are widely used due to their unique advantages, and hollow core fibers serve as low-loss transmission media for high-power femtosecond lasers, effectively reducing thermal effects on the human body.
