Electronic waste

How to reduce your ecological footprint in terms of electronic waste?

Did you know ? How to reduce your ecological footprint in terms of electronic waste?

In 2018, 939 million electrical and electronic equipment (all categories combined) were placed on the market in France, which represents around 1,928,995 tonnes, which will one day or another end up among our waste. This equipment often contains substances or components that are hazardous to the environment. To overcome these environmental challenges, the European Union has conditioned the management of this waste, with WEEE / D3E.

WE ARE ALL CONCERNED !

To date, the management of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) allows companies and individuals to considerably reduce their environmental footprint.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) channels are specific organizational mechanisms for the prevention and management of waste that concern certain types of products. The collection and treatment of WEEE via these channels makes it possible to limit the waste of the natural resources necessary for their design, but also to prevent the dissemination of certain pollutants.

Being concerned about your WEEE is therefore a regulatory obligation that significantly reduces your environmental footprint.

In order to properly manage your WEEE, it is necessary to know which products are considered as such.

All products powered by mains, batteries or batteries constitute WEEE. For companies, this represents a large amount of waste (printers, computers, screens, cell phones, GPS, cameras, etc.). These objects must therefore be cleaned up before being recycled and not simply thrown in a traditional trash can.

Suppliers and individuals are concerned with the recycling and secure destruction of WEEE.

Recycling and destruction ok, but what happens to your data?

The protection of your data is also an integral part of the WEEE management, final destruction and recycling process. Electronic equipment at the end of its life poses the problem of managing your data (browsing, files, privacy, etc.). Destroying a hard drive that has been reformatted is not enough. This is why it is necessary that this material be rendered inoperable before it is destroyed and recycled. We advise you to entrust the management of your WEEE to a serious company, which undertakes to permanently eliminate your data, personal or professional.

And at Yatoo, what do we do?

For example, when renewing your fleet of tablets, be aware that we can recover your old equipment. As a supplier, we are obliged to ensure the take-back for the WEEE disposal of our own equipment. When renewing equipment, whether it is products that we have sold or not, we can recover the old equipment to give it a second life.

When we collect your material, we sort the different components in order to recycle the still viable elements. When possible, equipment will be refurbished to extend its life. As for excessively worn equipment, it will be placed in WEEE.

With this internal recycling, we are able to offer companies a used park or tablet. Our wish is to make recycling possible in order to meet ecological issues as well as the needs of some of our customers. By repairing the equipment used, we extend its lifespan and reduce the volume of WEEE at time T.

If you wish, we can also take care of the WEEE destruction. We ensure the management and monitoring of your equipment, as well as the transport of your old equipment. As a company, we owe it to ourselves, morally and legally, to protect our customers. For this, with each recycling, when the process comes to an end, a certificate of destruction will be issued to you.
