There are many differences between a rugged tablet and a consumer tablet. These are mainly based on 3 factors: usage, the environment for which the tablet is used and the availability of this solution over time (roadmap).
The main objective of a Consumer tablet is to satisfy a need when a rugged tablet must meet professional use and ensure the sustainability of the solution over time.
A professional tablet is mainly used for a very specific purpose, it is a production tool that adapts to a business process.
Several criteria of differences come into play:
- The frame (solidity or lightness and pleasant design)
- The quality of the screen (brightness, gorilla glass, anti-glare, etc.)
- The different connections (RJ45 port, RFID readers, NFC, bar code, etc.)
- Sealing (IP standard) and hardening standards (MIL-STD)
- Processor and operating system (performance, graphics, etc.).
- The roadmap.
