Great performance, small footprint – the new Epson C8XL 6-axis robot

Epson presents its new C8XL 6-axis robot, the first model in the C8 series of vertical 6-axis industrial robots. With a payload of up to eight kilograms and an arm length of 1400 mm, this robot is ideal for automation solutions in industries such as automotive, electronics, plastics and packaging. The 6-axis model has been available since autumn 2015 and has now been supplemented by additional machines in this series with operating radii of 710 and 900 mm.

The special feature of these high-speed, high-performance six-axis robots is their use of QMEMS technology which is based on high precision motion sensors. Robots with QMEMS are capable of exceptionally quiet and vibration-free travel, even when loaded.

Slimline arm with an operating radius of up to 1400 mm

The C8XL robot has a maximum operating radius of 1400 mm with a gross weight of 62 kg. Thanks to its slimline arm design, the robot will travel around objects better than other geometries which also makes this machine ideal for work in constricted areas. Thanks to its low weight, the C8XL can be used as a table-top robot and does not require installation on the floor. This means it can replace significantly heavier robots with a similar operating radius.

"Thanks to its sophisticated geometry, the new C8XL provides customers with a range of benefits such as a large operating radius and low weight, low arm vibration tendency and easy operation", says Volker Spanier, Manager Robotic Solutions at Epson Deutschland GmbH.

One for all: Epson RC700-A

The 6-axis robots in the ProSix C8 series are controlled by the Epson RC700-A robot control system. This control system is a genuine universal genius. The Epson RC700-A can show off its skills as a stand-alone or integral system and can control both almost every Epson robot as well as various peripherals.

It supports high-speed conveyor tracking and the integral Epson Vision Guide 7.0 image processing system and can be tailored to suit your application using expansion cards.

TP3 hand-held programming unit with large colour touchscreen

At the same time as the launch of the C8XL, Epson is also unveiling its new TP3 Teach Pendant which has been enhanced to meet the needs of 6-axis robots. The mobile terminal with its brilliant, high-contrast 10.1 inch colour touchscreen makes controlling and configuring even easier and can also handle demanding visualisation and control applications.
