Recovery of concrete product waste directly within the production cycle

Electric jaw crusher serie CR

Companies producing concrete products and precast concrete elements often have to manage production waste, broken pieces, offcuts, non-conforming products or returned items that cannot be placed on the market. These materials can be generated at different stages of the production process: during casting, curing, handling, storage, quality control or transport.
The products involved may include, for example, concrete blocks, kerbs, manholes, slabs, panels, modular elements, tanks, channels, precast fences, Jersey barriers, retaining elements, paving products, covers, vibro-compressed pieces and other concrete components. Even when these products can no longer be sold as finished items, the material they are made of still retains value and can be recovered through a mechanical size-reduction process.
In many production facilities, these residues are still considered bulky material to be moved, stored and sent off site. An accumulation of cement-based waste takes up space in the yard or indoor areas, requires handling equipment and can affect the organisation of the plant. Moreover, when the material is managed only as waste to be disposed of, the company has to deal with logistics costs, waiting times and less autonomy in managing its own production flow.
An increasingly interesting solution is to recover the waste directly where it is generated, inside the production facility. In this way, cement-based material is no longer seen only as waste to be disposed of, but as a resource that can be crushed, reduced in volume and prepared for subsequent handling, screening or reuse phases.
For manufacturers of concrete products, an advantageous solution is the integration of a CR Series electric crusher by CM Crusher directly into the production process. The crusher can be installed at the point where the waste is generated or selected, for example close to the area where non-conforming products are identified, avoiding intermediate storage before subsequent treatment.
This makes it possible to move from waste management carried out at a later stage to a concrete, fast and integrated solution within the production cycle. The material is treated immediately, crushed according to the required grain size and transformed into an aggregate that can be more easily reused, ready to be reintroduced into the company’s production process.
The CR 600 by CM Srl is an electric jaw crusher suitable for processing cement-based waste and precast concrete products. Thanks to the possibility of configuring it with customised hopper and support, conveyor belts, vibrating screens and magnetic separator, it can be integrated into the production plant according to the layout of the facility and the company’s specific requirements.
The incoming material is crushed and transformed into more manageable sizes. The adjustable output size makes it possible to adapt the result to internal objectives. When necessary, vibrating screens can be added to separate the material into different fractions, while the magnetic separator can help manage reinforcing steel in the presence of reinforced concrete.
A practical example may be a company producing blocks, kerbs or precast elements and generating broken pieces, non-conforming products or irregular offcuts every day. By integrating a CM CR 600 crusher into the production cycle, these scraps can be conveyed to the machine, crushed and collected in bins, or transferred by conveyors to the next stages of screening and reintegration into the production of new concrete products.
Integrating waste recovery into the production process therefore helps improve plant organisation, reduce the volumes to be managed, limit internal handling, reduce the need for external disposal and enhance the value of a material that would otherwise be considered only as waste. For companies producing concrete products, internal recycling represents a concrete step towards a more efficient, sustainable production model focused on resource recovery.
