Application of DB180 Temperature & Humidity Probe
Applied in Pharmaceutical Cold Chain Transportation
A biotechnology pharmaceutical company specializing in vaccines and biologics requires strict environmental control during transportation. According to pharmaceutical quality regulations, vaccines must be transported within 2–8°C and 30–70% RH. If conditions exceed this range for more than one hour, drug efficacy may decline significantly.
Previously, the company relied on single-use temperature loggers and manual inspections, which created several issues:
Insufficient accuracy: ±0.5°C temperature error and ±5% RH humidity error failed to meet the required ±0.2°C and ±2% RH precision. A temperature spike to 9.2°C for 20 minutes once caused the loss of vaccines worth USD 70,000.
Delayed data access: Data could only be retrieved after delivery. In 2023, delayed anomaly detection caused losses of approximately USD 170,000.
Poor environmental resistance: Condensation and disinfectant residues damaged plastic devices frequently, resulting in annual maintenance costs of USD 11,500.
In January 2025, the company deployed the DABECO DB180 temperature and humidity probe.

Deployment
Each refrigerated truck was equipped with three DB180 probes (front airflow, cargo center, and near refrigeration unit).
Additional probes were installed in refrigerated containers at a density of one per 5 m³, totaling 180 probes.
The probes connect to onboard terminals via I2C digital interface, and data is transmitted to the cloud monitoring platform through 4G networks.
System Functions
Real-time monitoring: Data collected every 10 seconds with ≤3-second transmission delay.
Smart alarms: If temperature goes below 2°C or above 8°C, alerts are triggered through vehicle alarms, mobile notifications, and logistics control center dashboards.
Traceability: One-year historical data storage ensures full regulatory compliance.
Results
After six months of operation:
Temperature accuracy: ±0.15°C
Humidity accuracy: ±1.8% RH
Product loss reduced from USD 85,000 to USD 7,000 (91.7% reduction)
Maintenance cost savings: USD 5,300
Labor cost savings: USD 214,000
The DABECO DB180 probe enables precise monitoring, real-time alerts, and full traceability, helping pharmaceutical companies build reliable cold chain systems.
