Our Applications Engineer was approached by a leading gas utilities company based in Europe, looking for a portable solution for in-the-field leak testing of gas pipelines, before commissioning work.

Customer challenge
Underground gas pipes that need replacing or repairing require stringent leak and integrity checks before they are recommissioned. A leaking gas pipe can have devastating consequences which must be mitigated by the utilities engineering team. Our customers required a cost effective, robust portable calibrator with leak testing functionality for use with engineers in varied weather conditions.

Druck solution
The portable Druck DPI610E-IS is a robust and highly accurate pressure calibrator that can allow the engineers using it to confirm that there are no leaks prior to commissioning the gas pipework.

The repaired section can be isolated and pressurised. The DPI610E-IS is connected to this section of pipework via port to measure the system pressure directly. The instrument can monitor the pressure over a designated time to confirm that the repair integrity is safe with no loss of pressure. Within the same application our DPI705E-IS series can also be used for pressure indication and leak testing.
