EC centrigugal overspeed safety brake; with or without drums
Centrifugal EC overspeed safety brake with or without drum allow for controlled descent in the absence of motorisation and in case of holding-brake failure. They prevent uncontrolled acceleration of the load, and what could otherwise lead to an accident becomes only an incident. Evidently neither the holding brake nor the centrifugal brake can prevent an accident if the anomaly is in the reducer or any element after them. If the centrifugal brake is assembled with an independent transmission, it behaves as a final safety mechanism, as it will be activated regardless of any failure or malfunction that may render the holding brake or the reducer inoperative.
