Earth Hour 2023: Join the Biggest Hour for Earth
Switch off, Give an Hour for Earth
Earth Hour is a platform for people around the world who care about nature and are passionate about environmental protection to raise their voices together. Initiated by WWF, it advocates people from all countries to voluntarily participate in Earth Hour on the last Saturday of March at 8:30 pm local time (March 25 for Earth Hour 2023) by individuals, communities, businesses, and governments to turn off unnecessary lighting and power-consuming products for one hour to show their concern for nature conservation and support for environmental protection.
Since its beginnings in 2007, Earth Hour has been known for the “lights off” moment – a symbolic event to show collective support for the planet. But this year, Earth Hour has been given a greater mission to bring together all sectors of society to turn off the lights, light up hope, and promote change to achieve the zero carbon goal and 2030 for the good of nature.
The World is Taking Action
On September 22, 2020, China proposed a "double carbon goal" at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly. At the end of 2022, at CBD Cop15, the first UN global conference on ecological civilization, the "Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework" was adopted to help "Nature for Good." By 2022, people, enterprises, governments, and organizations from 192 countries and territories had participated in this activity.
