Four in One - the FRIMO Multi Purpose Machine

The development of more niche products with individual configurations in the automobile industry leads to the production of lower volumes for each individual variation. The importance of flexibility, therefore, is also constantly increasing.

FRIMO took it upon themselves to develop the Multi Purpose Machine, a single system capable of combining up to 4 different technologies. Until now, vacuum lamination, edge folding, press lamination, and groove lamination each required an individual machine. Now, these surface finishing processes can all be completed in a single system – the FRIMO MPM.

Fully automated tool changes create exceptional flexibility and shorter tool changes. The key is the execution of the tools, which each have a PLC on board, making product and process changes possible with virtually just the push of a button. The use of standard elements spares the customer the need for a huge stock of spare parts and lowers the cost of maintenance and repairs. The MPM has a modular design and, therefore, can easily and efficiently be adapted to the customers’ wishes. For example, foil heating is only required if vacuum lamination is used. The system is suitable for common adhesive systems (dispersion and hot melt). In terms of efficiency, the FRIMO MPM requires little production space and its biggest strength is the production of small or medium sized components, such as arm rests, inserts, and panels in small to medium production volumes.

FRIMO’s new universal machine offers customers the very first single-system solution for up to four different processes for component production, which can significantly reduce costs.
