Frederiksborg Castle in Denmark to undergo extensive renovation with the help of GEDA hoists

Hillerød, Denmark – The historic Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, Denmark, is undergoing extensive renovation on its windward side. Two GEDA rack and pinion hoists (GEDA 500 Z/ZP transport platform and GEDA 300 Z material hoist) are being used for this purpose. This construction project, which is expected to take three to four years, is an impressive example of heritage conservation.

About Frederiksborg Castle

Frederiksborg Castle, built in the early 17th century by King Christian IV, is now considered the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia. With its opulent architecture and fascinating history, the castle stands out as a monument to Denmark’s power and cultural heritage. The magnificent rooms and exhibitions within the castle walls house an impressive collection of portraits, historical paintings, furniture and handicrafts and offer an exciting journey through 500 years of Danish history. Since 1878, the castle has housed the Museum of National History, making it an important part of Danish cultural history.

Renovation of the castle façade

Renovation of the castle façade: The renovation of the windward side and the replacement of the roof of Frederiksborg Castle are key steps in preserving the historical splendour of this amazing building. The GEDA 500 Z/ZP transport platform will be used to help complete the project. But first, the GEDA 300 Z material hoist will be put to work. This enables scaffolding to be erected safely and efficiently. For the actual renovation work, the GEDA 500 Z/ZP transport platform is the right tool for the job. Thanks to two separate controls, the device can transport both people and materials. The required transport height of 30 metres is no problem for the hoist, as it can reach a maximum height of 100 metres.

This impressive renovation project is the result of the close and long-standing successful cooperation between GEDA, the leading company in height access systems, and Hejs.dk A/S, a renowned sales and service partner in Denmark. Thanks to Hejs.dk A/S, who also installed the equipment, it is possible to complete this important restoration work while preserving the splendour of the castle.

The GEDA 500 Z/ZP can carry 1,000 kg or up to five persons. The GEDA 300 Z can also reach a maximum lifting height of 100 metres and has a load capacity of 300 kg. Both hoists have impressive lifting speeds that ensure efficient vertical transport. The safe and efficient transport of scaffolding materials or tools would be unthinkable without these small and flexible helpers.

A special highlight of this project is the installation of the GEDA 500 Z/ZP on a prefabricated platform in the water, which overcomes the challenge of renovating the windward side of the castle. Thanks to the innovative force distribution and low anchoring forces, this transport platform can be anchored directly over the scaffolding. This is an enormous advantage, especially on this historic façade. The renovation of Frederiksborg Castle not only represents a significant restoration of a historic landmark, but also emphasises the important role that modern technology plays in the construction industry.
