GEDA supports project for CO2 reduction in Belgium
Green future in Belgium with the GEDA 2500 Z/ZP
Bavarian industrial and construction hoist manufacturer GEDA is involved in a pioneering project in the cement industry with the GEDA 2500 Z/ZP. The cement company CCB is working on a climate-neutral future of the cement works in Belgium.
In the town of Tournai, a GEDA 2500 Z/ZP supports a comprehensive project of the local CCB cement works. CCB has one of the largest and most efficient sites in the Benelux countries, with state-of-the-art technology and limestone reserves for more than 80 years. For one of the cement works, the company was awarded the CSC certification for ecological, economical and social commitment.
This commitment is also reflected in Tournai, as the site also committed to the objective of improving sustainability in the cement industry by reducing the CO2 emissions. To be more precise: The aim is to achieve a 39 % reduction in the values per ton of cement equivalent by 2030 and to become completely carbon-neutral by 2050. The project is ambitious, but also a step towards a greener future, to which GEDA can also contribute.
The Compagnie des Ciments Belges chose the company Verhelst Machines, who selected a GEDA 2500 Z/ZP to implement the transport of heavy loads on the 100-m high main tower of the cement works.
GEDA 2500 Z/ZP
The GEDA 2500 Z/ZP transport platform is being used at the Tournai cement works for six months. It is installed with a height of 100 m and covers 4 levels which are secured with the GEDA Comfort landing level doors. With maximum use, up to 200 m installed height and up to 2 500 kg of material transport are possible. The transport platform can also be used to transport up to seven passengers to their place of work at the construction site. With a speed of 12 m/min in passenger mode and 40 m/min in materials mode, this can save a lot of time and money at the construction site while ensuring easier and safer transport.
With dimensions of 1.45 m x 3.55 m, the platform of the GEDA 2500 Z/ZP is a true space saver, offering optimum space for the required tools, materials or construction workers. Verhelst machines, who have provided the GEDA 2500 Z/ZP for the construction site, chose a set of double doors on the C side of the transport platform to gain more space for loading and unloading materials. In this version, the transport platform offers 3.40 m of space on the large side for comfortable loading and unloading of tools and materials. This function is of great help for the construction workers, in particular for bulky materials and large parts.
Thanks to the innovative GEDA SVARIO-Mast system, the transport platform runs on only one mast despite its load capacity of 2 500 kg. The hoist can be easily installed by two people who use the roof opening to place the mast sections one on top of the other. The roof of the transport platform can be quickly lowered, which offers a great advantage for lorry loading.
Verhelst Machines & GEDA
GEDA has been working with Verhelst Machines for over 10 years by supplying construction hoists. As in all previous, sometimes quite challenging projects, the collaboration went very smoothly for this project as well and contributed to a successful overall result. On site, Verhelst Machines is responsible not only for the hire of the suitable GEDA devices for the construction sites, but also for servicing these. This means that the Belgian customers receive the best advice and support and can benefit from a worry-free package at their construction site.
