Installation of 4 unattended weighing systems at the Port of Seville

In the summer of 2021, Giropes was awarded the contract for the automation works of four weighbridges for the port of Seville for the control of incoming and outgoing materials from the port facilities.

The Port of Seville stands out for being the only commercial river port in Spain, located in the estuary of the Guadalquivir River and 70 km from the Atlantic Ocean. The fact that it is located on the Guadalquivir River gives it proximity to Seville’s city centre, providing a strategic location inside Spanish territory. Thanks to this, the port has good land connectivity and multimodality, being the main freight hub in southern Spain.

Giropes' participation in the expansion of the Port of Seville involves the installation and operation of a new unattended weighing system for two unidirectional lorry scales at the Tablada dock and two unidirectional scales at the Batán dock.

In addition to the automation of the entire weighing system, the Giropes technicians who were at the installation site also managed to modify the civil works in order to be able to adapt the weighbridge and the install all the control elements that are part of the autonomous weighing station.

The automation of the scales will be managed by Gestruck PRO Software from the operations center and GST4 self-service terminals at the weighing point. In addition, it will have different traffic control elements at the weighing station, such as ANPR/LRP cameras with license plate reading module, CTTV cameras for CCTV video surveillance, mandatory passage and prohibited entry signs, vehicle positioning sensors at the weighbridge, traffic lights, etc.

The Gestruck PRO management software allows the configuration, management and control of the four unattended weighing points installed for the entry and exit of goods from the port facilities. Designed and implemented by Giropes, Gestruck PRO is software that will record and process access to and traffic on truck scales.

Gestruck PRO will be complemented by its Ges2Web web platform for processing weighing requests and authorisations, a truck positioning detection system and a vehicle identification system using license plate readers.

The GST4 terminals installed in the weighing systems have a stainless steel finish for increased protection in humid environments, RFID reader, barcode and QR code reader and printer for issuing tickets and receipts.

On commission of the facility, and for the new automated weighing system, Giropes has also trained the personnel responsible for managing these weighing systems.
