The D5038 line fault transparent module by GM International is an intrinsically safe digital input interface designed to connect switches and proximity detectors installed in hazardous areas to PLC and DCS systems in the safe area. The module reliably repeats the input state while providing advanced diagnostic capabilities required in modern safety systems.
A key advantage is its Line Monitoring Transparency (LMT) technology, which detects field open-circuit and short-circuit conditions and mirrors fault information directly to the PLC digital input. This enables end-to-end line monitoring up to the field device, significantly reducing engineering effort and wiring costs in high-integrity applications.
The D5038 can be configured for switches or proximity sensors and allows flexible output behavior, including impedance switching or inversion of the input state. In the event of a detected fault, the output automatically opens to ensure safe operation.
Available in single channel (S), double channel (D), and duplicator (X) versions, the module supports installation in Zone 2 / Div. 2 and is suitable for SIL 3 safety applications. With 2.5 kV isolation, G3 conformal coating, and universal DIN-rail mounting, the D5038 provides a compact and robust solution for demanding process industries.
